Context and Overview

Circular Economy is considered a key strategy to promote sustainability and resource efficiency, and in particular to the building environment, since there is a need to raise awareness of problems in the Built Environment, encouraging decision-makers to adopt circular and sustainable solutions based Circular Economy solutions. This course focuses on the principles of the Circular Economy and sustainability and the advantages implicit in their implementation in the Built Environment. This course will teach practical methods to enhance circularity's impact, promote energy efficiency and decarbonization measures. Learners will have the opportunity to analyse different case studies about Circular Economy in the Built Environment. Additionally, the program explores environmental impact assessment and circularity methodologies that provide a comprehensive approach to sustainable practices. By raising awareness and providing practical skills, the course aims to empower individuals to play a key role in progressing towards a more resilient future.


Learning Objectives

On the completion of the micro-credential, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of transition for circularity and sustainability and promote their implementation in the Built Environment.
  • Understand and apply the principles of Sustainability and Circular Economy.
  • Develop practices to improve circularity and assess their impact on the Built Environment.
  • Identify and promote measures that contribute for energy efficiency and decarbonization.
